Some things are just too valuable to lose. While many people regard tech gadgets as nothing more than glorified gizmos, there are times that it stores important details that are just too classified fro everybody else. Once it is gone, all hell might break loose and chaos is inevitable. That could very well be the case in the story that happened just a week ago.
The Home Depot is known for being a do-it yourself haven. Now, it seems it is gonna need all the help they could get. The company confirmed reports that a company laptop was stolen that contains personal information about as may as 10,000 employees of the do-it-yourself retailing giant. This is what the story is said to have happened: Apparently, a Home Depot HR rep in Massachusetts brought a laptop computer home to do some additional work and had the PC stolen from his vehicle parked in front of his house. The laptop contained personal information, including names, addresses and Social Security numbers of approximately 10,000 employees. The data was not encrypted, but the system was password protected.
