I’ve heard about toughbook before but today I chanced upon a video of a test the did on a toughbook

Check out the car. The testers drove their front wheels on that toughbook, then check out the back wheels. It dragged that toughbook. What a punishment. These are really tough. Well, it has to be. It’s built really so it’s very well protected from day to day use.

I’ve bet a lot of people in construction, military, police, probably bomb disposal squads have one of these. Plus, it’s so cool. With its magnesium alloy body.

This guy chained a toughbook, tied it to his ATV and drove though a dirtfield and mud puddle like crazy. This is insane stuff going on. If a toughbook survive this, then it ought to survive common day to day use.

Here’s another video. They tied one on top of a rammer. You know that construction tool that pounds and compacts the soil? That’s the one. So they went on, tie this thing on top and starts the rammer. You can see the toughbook vibrate like crazy. Now in the previous 2 videos, we can see that the toughbook was closed and they actually close the laptop before testing.

This one, is more like a toughbook tablet. There’s nothing that covers the screen. But then I said to myself, they’re just testing this thing against vibrations. Nothing special I thought. Then here’s the twist, the guy stops his rammer, sets it aside, picks a shovel and starts digging on the part where his rammer compacted the soil. Then I saw a handle. I held my breath and said to myself, could this be true? Is that another toughbook buried alive?

The guy starts digging, pulling up a toughbook then somebody threw a bucket of water to “rinse” the toughbook. Man, it still works. An exposed toughbook conquers a rammer and lives another day.

Totally Insane. I’m checking out a toughbook now, or at least a semi rugged toughbook would probably be enough for my use. I’m sure I won’t be chaining or ramming that baby.

This year could be the one that people would look back in teh future and say it was oen of the best years for notebook buyers. There has been no shortage of hype and strong performances from the ultraportable line. Now, you could add the Lenovo ThinkPad X300 to one of the year’s best this early. It is that good based on initial reports.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X300 is an ultraportable that is said to combine everything that most ultraportables possess today. The screen size is 13.3 inches, dimensions at 12.5 by 9.1 by 0.73 inches and it is a definite slim notebook. At 3.4 pounds, it is as comfy as they come. It even has a 1.3 inch Webcam for your pleasure. A DVD burner is built-in, so that is a definite plus.

Looking for a gaming laptop with high-end features that does not compromise affordability is liek searching for a unicorn: you do not really have any proof that it exists but you may keep looking if you want to. After all, it is a pretty neat idea to begin with. Well, lady luck may have finally smiled on those searching for it as Gateway may have the solution.

That solution comes in the form of its latest laptop, the Gateway P-6831FX. This gaming laptop features Nividia GeForce 8800 graphic card at a surprisingly low price. Also, you would later on find out that it is actually a 17-inch laptop that has 3 gigabytes of RAM in it. That is just too much to ask but it has it! The black finish of the laptop may not speak volumes but the features more than make up for it.

While compared to other models, it has a lower resolution than most of them. Still, for gamers out there, it is quite an achievement given the graphic card and the price tag that just surprises a lot of people.

After blowing most people away with its affordable hit Eee, Asus is now keen on reminding people that it could also compete in the higher end level. With the Asus U6S A1, it goes for the jugular with its unique look and hefty set-up. Does the Asus U6S A1 also have the same charm as the company’s last big hit?

For starters, the Asus U6S A1 is not at all a bad way to splurge your money on. After all, the leather-covered wrist rest and brushed metal touch pad has got to cost you some money, right? The laptop also features options like Intel Core 2 Duo T7500, fingerprint scanner, and a face-recognition application that go hand-in-hand with the integrated Webcam.

It is a tad too thick for an ultraportable but for good reason. It has ports and its power more than makes up for that extra weight you might have to carry around. Once again though, battery life could use some little sprucing up. Otherwise, this high-end ultraportable laptop is a worthy choice.

Toshiba Portege M700-S7002

Sometimes, one mistake is one too many. That could very well describe the latest laptop we are going to review. The Toshiba Portege M700-S7002 is a good buy if not for one fatal flaw: it has a horrendous battery life that is simply too criminal. For all its advantages, the Toshiba Portege M700-S7002 has one glaring misstep.

This business-centric laptop has a lot going on for it. It has a 12.1-inch backlit-LED display. The Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 makes it a fast notebook. The performance is quite solid due to it. At 4.5 pounds, it is quite light. However, this ultraportable may seem bulky at times. The swivel design is also attractive.

Alas, it is undone by the performance of its battery. The Toshiba Portege M700-S7002 is on a disadvantage on that matter being a business laptop. What was supposed to be a great success instantly became a mild disappointment. Sigh.

Toshiba Satellite Pro A210-EZ2203X

One could very well assume that the Toshiba Satellite Pro A210-EZ2203X has quite a mouthful for a name. That fact aside, it is a laptop that could be best describe as an affordable piece of gadget. I was tinkering on calling it inexpensive but clearly, it is more than that. The price tag does not necessarily connote cheap, so calm down.

The 15.4 inch screen display has a native resolution of 1280 x 800 which adds to the sharpness. What is quite noticeable to many is the unique way of inputing a glossy finish, unheard of for business laptops. The keyboard does not pose any problems to the user. On the contrary, it makes for a better-than-usual experience.

Maybe the low price tag may have to do with the bad battery life and the speakers that leave a lot of room for improvement. Still, one could do a lot worse than the Toshiba Satellite Pro A210-EZ2203X. Now, try saying that five times faster!

With the recent unveiling of MacBook Air, it is but consequential that competitors line up to give it a rival. One day, someone would step up to the plate to let loose a laptop that is ultraportable and would challenge the Air to almost every aspect. That day might just have arrived recently.

The Toshiba Portege R500-S5003 is going to be compared to that laptop for a lot of reasons and most of them are quite valid. First off, it is absolutely thin and lithe. Talk about a laptop weighing in at 1.7 pounds. It also offers 64GB modules. It has a solid state drive. Its 12.1 inch display also has a 1280 x 800 resolution. It has a matte screen.

It is a bit too expensive for many people. The price tag, however, would be the least of your concerns as this Portege brings a lot to the table. It has its share of flaws, particularly the battery life, but what is impressive is despite all that, it could still lay claim to the throne.

Let this be a lesson to everyone: Anything that coems with the Ferrari name attached to it would be under close scrutiny and would have to answer to something similar to a Spanish Inquisition. Previously, Acer had mixed reviews with its first Ferrari-themed product. After all, anything less than perfection is a complete disaster.

The Acer Ferrari 1100 fits the look of stylishness that has come with the brand name. There is no problem with that area. This ultraportable laptop is as compact as they come. This is soldily buit, no doubt. With dimensions of 12 x 9.1 x 1.1 inches, it comes across as a light laptop. It comes with a fingerprint reader, DVD burner and Webcam. However, there is one old problems that does crop up.

Once more, the battery life fails to impress a lot of people. This is bad news for those who are usually on long trips and would find it hard to attend to such matters. The Acer Ferrari 1100 is almost a great laptop that fails miserably in one critical area.

HP Pavilion tx2000z

This laptop is the succesor to last year’s tx1000. That one was actually a recipient of very favorable reviews, due to its touch screen and media controls. The HP Pavilion tx2000z is an iteresting follow-up since it is expected to do even better. Topping the tx1000 is quite a feat that they managed to pull off though.

With a 2.3GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-66processor, expect this gizmo to be slightly faster. It still follows teh same screen size as its predecessor, that being 12.1 inches. This LCD screen offers a 1280 x 800 native resolution. They made a change with the touch screen. Now, this edition comes with an active digitizer. Thus, the writing becomes more natural than ever before.

The focus of this laptop is clearly the entertainment freaks out there. They deliver once again. The media controls are awesome. There is a fingerprint reader, buttons for rotating the display orientation, and a Webcam. The HP Pavilion tx2000z has got you covered with your entertainment needs.

Things just keep getting better. Check out the latest laptop from HP, the HP Pavilion HDX. This is an updated version and one could not be more impressed. from the screen size to the latest technology infused in this notebook, this laptop is an improvement that could very well become a yardstick for many others.

It is a really good choice for an entertainment system as well. The huge 20-inch screen is now offered with 1080p resolution. Moreover, this laptop also features Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn CPU and Nvidia GeForce 8800 video card. Plus, you have the option of including either Blu-ray or HD DVD drives, if you are still choosing between the two formats. The comfortable room of the keyboard makes for a pleasent typing experience as well.

This pretty much sums up just how good the HP Pavilion HDX is. There are few systems that are excellent upgrades from their predecessors. This one succeeds on being a successor.
