Going Ga-Ga Over Digicams

Digital cameras have been a staple for many years now. In the United States, manufacturers must be grinning ear-wide after industry data shows that there has been a notable rise in the sales figures for the third quarter of this year. With so many new brands out there, it makes sense. After all, consumers must be taking note of their older models and snatched all the new models real fast. The replacements are here and they are better than ever. It goes without saying that camera makers must be doing something really good.

The top selling brand, according to the quarterly report of research firm IDC, was Canon Inc. The Japanese brand accounted for 23 percent market share. Finishing a close second was Sony Inc. with a not-so-far-behind tally of 18 percent. Gaining 15 percent of the market share was perennial favorite Eastman Kodak. They, in turn, had 15 percent of the market share.

This is welcome news as the digital camera sales have dipped the past few years.
