Google, arguably the leader of all search engines these days, just acquired another piece of prime property. This time, it is meant to bolster one of its own: Google Apps. They just bought Postini.
Postini is actually a popular communications security and compliance company. With the acquisition, Google would be able secure Google Apps and make sure security would not hinder its growth. The deal is reportedly amounting to $625 million.
Among the services Postini provides are encryption, policy enforcement and archiving. It has been said that the purchase would make Postini a perfect complement to Google to have a foothold in enticing enterprises to use Google Apps.
It could be remembered that Google Enterprises also recently purchased a company called Salesforce. While the move is said to be Google’s way of letting the public know that they are dead serious on becoming an on-demand enterprise applications provider, some analysts and insiders are questioning if that would come to fruitition.
