Whoever said that personal computers should be replaced immediately when it has reached a certain age certainly does not work for Hewlett-Packard.
Hewlett-Packard Co. has begun recycling Personal Computers, among others for consumers and small businesses in China. It is actually said to be an expansion of sorts for a free program that already existed for large companies. Since environmental protection is a growing concern in China, this is indeed a great development for the country which years ago would not have figured much in technology news. Of course. this is also a country that has become a destination for electronic waste shipped from overseas that has resulted in pollution.
Chinese consumers can bring their HP computers and other products, like printers and scanners, for recycling at service centers in 31 cities. These products will be sorted by HP and then sent out for recycling in China. Details of the hardware recycling program are available on HP’s website.
