Very nice radio. A portable weather radio should be in EVERY household AND workplace. As a severe weather spotter, I can tell you that the National Weather Service will issue a warning, and that warning is transmited via an encrypted code. This weather radio will alert you of severe weather before radio or internet can. I would recomend a better model with the LED displays though. Other than that, it is great for bedside operation.
