Finally, steps are being undertaken for our protection. No, this not from forces that undermine our freedom. Rather external forces that make us lose our mind once we are in the technological world. For our own safety, there has been a clamor for better archiving and protection to the manufacturers to come up with something, anything to put an end to this paranoia of consumers.
Last week, tech titans Microsoft Corp. made an announcement that temporarily made it all stop and take notice. They announced at a conference that it has started shipping its System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 software. What is its relevance, exactly? Well, the Data Protection Manager backup software is a component of Microsoft’s System Center family of management products, providing recovery from disk and archive to tape in Microsoft environments. Moreover, this also improves support for Microsoft’s Exchange messaging software, SQL Server database, and the Sharepoint Portal Sever collaboration and content management technology.
Sounds useful right now. Hopefully, it does deliver the goods. After all, we need something to protect us.
