Toshiba tries to repeat its highly applauded MP3 player, the acclaimed Gigabeat S, with a new flash-based Gigabeat U. This 2GB player measures in at 1.4 in x 0.4 in x 3 inches and has a 1 inch color OLED screen in front of the player itself. Among other things you could find in the player are a menu key, an options button, and a four-way directional pad with a center button that acts as a play, pause and/or enter key.

The Gigabeat U was also able to maintain one of the manufacturer’s reputed elements in its construction. The metal in the front and the back offers an elegance like no other. The 2GB is for music storage that supports the MP3, WMA and WAV formats. Also, it is able to feature a JPEG photo viewer, radio recording, FM radio and line-input recording. The soud quality is at par with most players out there in the market, with such a smooth quality in it. That being said, it has an awful headphone amplifiers going against it.
