Reports have been flooding in that is sure to once again make the whole Microsoft versus Apple debate heat up. It was said in an annual meeting with analysts that an official from Microsoft has touted that their new Operating System called Windows Vista has reached the 60 million mark. More specifically, the Vista premium has been acknowledged the most popular, with a reported 68 percent of Vista buyers having it as their choice.

Launched in late January of the current year, the 60 million copies it has sold has made the company quite ecstatic. Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner even went as far as to compare its sales to Apple. He proclaimed that in the first five weeks alone, the sales numbers of the Windows Vista has surpassed the figures Apple currently has in its total installed base.

Of course, some people have expressed their doubts over this claim. Some have argued that it is just the company’s way to distract people from Apple’s latest quarterly results that showed a significant increase in shipments. Others have argued that there was a spike in computer sales the better half of the year, which makes the figure quite an afterthought.
